Customers can designate Event tiers within the mParticle User Interface (UI), aligning each data point with an intended use case. According to mParticle, the Company’s annual recurring revenue (ARR) grew approximately 50% in 2020 and had accelerated to over 100% year over year in 2021, split between big enterprise clients and startups.
According to Business Insider in October of 2021, CEO Michael Katz hinted that mParticle might go public in the next few years. "Our goal is to create a company that is financially independent and around as long as possible — more importantly, this is not a business being built to be acquired," CEO Katz said.
In January 2025, Rokt nnounced a $300 million investment in mParticle. The merged entity will uphold both companies' commitment to data privacy and compliance, ensuring brands retain full control of their first-party data. Following the merger, mParticle's founders will remain actively involved: Michael Katz will continue as CEO of mParticle, Andrew Katz will assume the role of Chief Technology Officer at Rokt, overseeing innovation and data security across all products, and Jason Lynn will remain Chief Product Officer of mParticle. All three founders will also join the Rokt executive team.
According to Adweek, "In addition to the merger with mParticle, Rokt also announced a $335 million stock purchase agreement from investors including Tiger Global Management, Square Peg, Barrenjoey and SecondQuarter. "
